Shaker Models
Parr Shaker type hydrogenators provide compact and easily operated systems for treating chemicals with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst at pressures up to 5 atmospheres (60 psig) and temperatures to 80 °C. They are used primarily for synthesizing or modifying organic compounds by calalytic hydrogenation, reduction or condensation, but they are equally suitable for any other laboratory procedure in which a liquid and gas must be mixed vigorously in a glass reactor at pressures up to 5 atm.
![]() | Models 3911 & 3916 Shaker Hydrogenation ApparatusThe Parr 3911 & 3916 Shaker Hydrogenation Apparatus both utilize either a 250 mL or 500 mL non-reactant Borosilicate Glass vessel. Pressures up to 5 atmospheres (60 psig) are obtainable. Both are available with an explosion proof motor. The Model 3916 adds a means of heating the vessel, with control, up to 80 °C. |
![]() | Models 3921 & 3926 Shaker Hydrogenation ApparatusThe Parr 3921 & 3926 Shaker Hydrogenation Apparatus both utilize either a 1 L or 2 L non-reactant vessel of Borosilicate Glass, hand-blown Borosilicate Glass, or Stainless Steel. Maximum working pressures vary according to the vessel with ranges from 30 – 65 psig obtainable. Both models are available with an explosion proof motor. The Model 3926 adds a means of heating the vessel, with control, up to 80 °C. |
Other Parr HydrogenatorsIn addition to shaker type hydrogenators, Parr also offers other pressure reactors that are widely used for catalytic reactions with hydrogen. Series 5100 Low Pressure Glass Reactors run reactions similar to the Parr Shaker, but with stirring for better scalability, higher operating temperatures and pressures (225 °C and 150 psig), and more extensive reactor controls and instrumentation. For even higher temperatures and pressures, and more extensive instrumentation, we offer Series 4500 Stirred Reactors made of stainless steel and other corrosion resistant alloys in sizes from 25 mL to 5 gallons for use at pressures up to 5000 psig (136 atm) and temperatures to 500 °C. These are complete working units with all necessary controls and many convenient operating features. | |
