Esos fluidos pueden difundirse a trav\u00e9s de s\u00f3lidos como si fueran un gas y disolver materiales como un l\u00edquido. Cerca del punto cr\u00edtico, peque\u00f1os cambios de presi\u00f3n o de temperatura dan como resultado grandes cambios de densidad, lo que permite que muchas propiedades de un fluido supercr\u00edtico sean &#8220;mejoradas&#8221;. Los fluidos supercr\u00edticos frecuentemente son sustitutos adecuados de disolventes org\u00e1nicos en diversos procesos industriales y de laboratorio.<\/p>\n<p>El di\u00f3xido de carbono es uno de los muchos fluidos supercr\u00edticos com\u00fanmente utilizados.\u00a0 Es relativamente sencillo exceder su punto cr\u00edtico (31 \u00b0C, 1057 psi).\u00a0 Las aplicaciones que involucran fluidos supercr\u00edticos son extracciones, nano part\u00edculas y formaci\u00f3n de pel\u00edcula nano estructurada, secado supercr\u00edtico, captura y retenci\u00f3n de carbono, as\u00ed como estudios de recuperaci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo. Parr ha suministrado sistemas para todas las aplicaciones antes mencionadas.<\/p>\n<p>El agua es otra sustancia que se utiliza con frecuencia en su estado supercr\u00edtico (374 \u00b0C, 3185 psi). Sus excelentes propiedades de conductividad t\u00e9rmica la convierten en el l\u00edquido de elecci\u00f3n en los reactores nucleares a presi\u00f3n para la generaci\u00f3n de electricidad. La naturaleza extremadamente agresiva y reactiva del agua supercr\u00edtica hace que sea una excelente opci\u00f3n para la destrucci\u00f3n oxidativa de algunos materiales de desecho peligrosos.<\/p>\n<p>El recipiente de extracci\u00f3n supercr\u00edtica por lotes de la foto de arriba est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para usarse a 6000 psi (410 bar) a 400 \u00b0C.
