La protecci\u00f3n contra el flujo inverso se puede obtener mediante la instalaci\u00f3n de una v\u00e1lvula de retenci\u00f3n en la l\u00ednea de alimentaci\u00f3n. Con una v\u00e1lvula de retenci\u00f3n en la l\u00ednea, la v\u00e1lvula fijar\u00e1 la presi\u00f3n si la presi\u00f3n de alimentaci\u00f3n es demasiado baja, o si la presi\u00f3n en el recipiente debe elevarse por encima de la presi\u00f3n de suministro. Esta protecci\u00f3n es particularmente importante en reactores con agitaci\u00f3n en donde el gas entra por un tubo de inmersi\u00f3n. Con l\u00edquidos en el recipiente, cualquier presi\u00f3n de retorno obligar\u00e1 al l\u00edquido a ir al tanque de gas o al sistema de alimentaci\u00f3n de gas. Parr tiene existencias de v\u00e1lvulas de retenci\u00f3n de resorte se enumeran a continuaci\u00f3n para su incorporaci\u00f3n en las l\u00edneas de alimentaci\u00f3n del usuario.
