Rotating Cage Apparatus

For Evaluation of Corrosion Inhibitors per ASTM G170 and Other Methods

Evaluation of corrosion inhibitors for use in refinery and oilfield applications typically requires an apparatus that can simulate the interaction between the corrosive fluid and the carbon/low alloy steel used in the construction of the refinery, pipeline, or drilling equipment. ASTM G170 describes the use of a rotating cage (RC) for such testing.

Parr offers rotating cage systems of various sizes and with a range of pressure and temperature ratings. All Parr systems allow batch testing and include the following components:

– Pressure vessel assembly constructed of Alloy C276 or other corrosion resistant alloy, with included rotating cage.

– Support stand with motor and heater

– Control system for motor and heater, with remote control and datalogging capabilities

For testing protocols that require addition of gas or liquid during the test or require advanced control features, the following options are available:

– Gas feed systems to deliver CO2, H2S, and/or N2.

– Liquid feed system to deliver acid or inhibitor

– Reflux condenser and pressure controller

– Automated control and advanced data logging system

Any of the above features can be customized to meet individual testing requirements.
