|A Quarterly Newsletter of Parr Instrument Company|
April 2018 | Vol. 5 No. 1
Check out our new Website!
Last month we released our new mobile friendly website with fresh new look and features. Check it out here! To compliment the website, we refreshed our newsletter as well. Let us know what you think of the changes. We appreciate your feedback!
We’ve recently completed a review of our actual lead times over the last three years and have revised TechNote 300 Shipping Performance Guidelines to more accurately reflect current reality. The lead times for calorimeters and reactor controllers are largely unchanged, while many reactors and pressure vessels have had one or two weeks added. Requests for special material products continue to increase, so the additional time to produce such orders has decreased, in many cases. Download Tech Note 300 for your reference files.
Some of the materials included in ParrNotes are intended for our dealers only. The materials in this section were made for you to share with your Parr customers. Please copy and share!
New Training Resources from Parr Instrument Company
Magnetic Drive Maintenance Guide Videos
Parr Instrument Company has created two videos to demonstrate how to rebuild standard and footless magnetic drives during routine maintenance. Check them out here:
Proper Drive Shaft Alignment
Parr also has two new presentations describing proper drive shaft and magnetic drive alignment. Proper alignment ensures smooth operation of both the magnetic drive and motor. Download the presentations here:
Additional information about maintenance for Parr Magnetic Drives can be found in the 234M Magnetic Drive Operating Instructions or by contacting Parr’s Customer Service Department.
Parr Instrument Company is committed to providing expert sales and technical support for our products. We believe that a big part of this is providing training to our representatives from around the world.
Periodically, Parr holds training sessions at our main office/manufacturing facility in Moline, Illinois. These training sessions are completely free. The only expenses would be the travel expenses (including hotel) to come to Moline.
Parr Instrument Company is pleased to announce this year’s training sessions.
- May 14 – 18 (Space still available!)
- July 16 – 20
- October 15 – 19
Please contact us in advance if you would like to attend one of these sessions. We can help with letters of invitation and hotel reservations. Please let us know if there is any special training you would like and we will be happy to try to accommodate you.
Parr Team Member Focus
In this Team Member Focus, we meet two of the members of our Accounting Department.
Carolina Saguilan, Domestic Account Administrator
Carolina was raised and resides in her hometown of East Moline, Illinois. She received her AAS in Accounting from Black Hawk College. Carolina celebrated her 14th anniversary with Parr in January of 2018.
Carolina’s career at Parr began as an Accounting Intern. Since then she has worked in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and has been an ISO Internal Auditor. Carolina now serves as Parr’s Domestic Account Administrator where her tasks include setting up new accounts, granting credit terms, processing credits and following up with our customers. Over the years, she has also taken on the role of event coordinator where she plans our company picnics. Carolina enjoys planning these events and “seeing how happy it makes everyone.”
Carolina is thankful for “The wealth of knowledge I have gained over the years here at Parr. I have learned so much since I started. I also enjoy the great team of people we work with and the friendly work atmosphere.”
Outside of work, Carolina enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters who are activate in band, soccer, volleyball, and cheerleading. When not busy with activities, Carolina and her family love having game nights at home together.
Marcia Canfield, Accounts Payable
Marcia was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. She lived in Cicero, Illinois for five years before returning to her hometown. Marcia joined the Parr family in February of 2015.
Her position in accounts payable keeps her busy processing invoices and vendor payments. Marcia’s attention to detail and prompt service helps keep our vendor relations strong and also keeps her teammates happy when handling expense reimbursements.
Marcia has been a great fit here and said “the most important part of working at Parr is that I feel that you are part of the family. From my first day here, everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.”
In her free time, Marcia loves spending time traveling the world with her husband. Together they have been to at least 29 countries. One of her more memorable trips was a wintertime trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway which took them through Russia, Mongolia, and China.
Marcia said one of the most important things that she and her husband have done in their lives is to host a total of four foreign exchange students. Two of them were from France, one from Japan, and one from Norway. She feels being a host family “is one of life’s greatest experiences.”–
We are thankful to Marcia and Carolina for all of their hard work and dedication to our company, their co-workers, our vendors, and our customers!
